Pearl of Africa Gorilla Trekking & Game Sighting Safari

Lake Mburo national park is a compact gem, located conveniently close to the highway that connects Kampala to the parks of western Uganda. It is the smallest of Uganda’s savannah national parks and is home to 350 bird species as well as animals such as: zebra, impala, eland, buffalo, oribi, defassa waterbuck, hippo, and hyena (though a rare sighting), topi plus reedbuck.
After breakfast at the accommodation of your booking (Speke resort), you will be picked by an Ngege guide/driver who will welcome you to Uganda – the pearl of Africa. The guide will also brief you about the safari and thereafter you will hit the road to Lake Mburo np. You will reach mburo in the early afternoon to relax and enjoy your lunch.
Optional: you may opt to go for either a boat ride in the lake or a bush/ park walk. However, this shall be at an extra cost as may be specified on the ground. Later, relax at the accommodation and then enjoy your dinner plus the overnight stay.

Enjoy your breakfast as early as possible then proceed for an exciting morning drive in the park. Expect to see the gigantic eland antelope, zebras in big numbers, topis, impalas, buffalos and other savannah animals. Else, undertake the morning bush/park walk to the salt lick area. You will return to your accommodation then check out and proceed to Bwindi impenetrable NP.

Bwindi is a habitat for mountain gorillas in Uganda (harboring over 300 mountain gorillas – roughly half of the world’s population), including several habituated groups, which can be trekked. With a strenuous day ahead, you will do less on arrival but just check in your accommodation, relax as you prepare for the Bwindi gorilla trekking experience the next morning.

After an early breakfast and briefing by a ranger guide, you will enter the gorilla sanctuary for your adventure. The beauty of this rain forest is spectacular! The area offers dramatic steeply forested land scape and is incredibly dense, but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists.

The time taken and the terrain vary with the movements of these great primates. Once you locate a gorilla group, you will be allowed an hour in their presence. The thrill of spending time observing these gentle and endangered giants is an awesome, exciting experience to be long savored.

Return to your lodge. Have your lunch and thereafter check out to transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. Lake bunyonyi is framed by lush, green-terraced hills that reach a height of (2,200 – 2,478m) but it’s the 29 islands of various shapes and sizes scattered across the water that make it most magical – you could admire them all day.

Have your breakfast at the accommodation with spectacular view of the bunyonyi little islands just right in front of you and there after embark on your return journey to Entebbe airport. Expect en-route stopover in Mbarara town for lunch. Proceed with the journey arriving in time to catch your flight out.
